Hi, my name is Scot Alcorn. I am a Running Fit Coach at Muscle Garden Health & Fitness Centre.
I am very excited about the opportunity to coach a fantastic community which is MG. I have always been very active. I started playing soccer at age 4 and played nearly all sports growing up. I played competitive soccer until age 15 before I started training with a running coach competing mainly over 800 and 1500m and cross country at school before moving up to 3000m - 10000m distances. I am an accredited running coach with Athletics Australia.
I love to run and my goal as Running Fit coach is to pass on my knowledge and experience to create independence for those who attend. The great thing about running as part of your overall health and well-being program, is that it is so versatile; you can run just about anywhere, anytime, by yourself or with a group. That is why I like to show those who attend the classes how you can easily adapt any session we do to match time, location, fitness level etc.
These days running is a component of my overall training. I believe it is important to have resistance sessions each week to maintain lean muscle mass and time to maintain flexibility. My fastest running days are well behind me, so my focus now is to maintain my body for the long haul; make the sessions count and that does not mean excessive miles. In fact, it is the opposite, it is about having a plan each week, making it count and listening to your body. Effective recovery is as important as other components of your training week.
So, come along to Running Fit, our aim is to have fun, get fit or keep fit in a safe, inclusive and supportive way. Everyone is welcome, it doesn’t matter whether it is your first Running Fit session or if you are a regular, our sessions will mix and match for all fitness levels and abilities.
